Press Release
kwiry launches viral mobile/web platform to drive offline audiences online
kwiry helps advertisers turn text messages into valuable page views
December 13, 8:00 AM PST 2007 - SAN FRANCISCO - kwiry, a San Francisco-based startup helping people use their cell phones as a tool to remember things, today announced the official launch of kwiry.com. kwiry's viral platform allows advertisers, publications, TV networks, and radio stations to use text messages to drive traffic from mobile phones to their websites in a unique way.
"Currently, companies must use confusing URLs to drive people to specific content on their website. kwiry gives partners a way to drive offline audiences online immediately with a simple text message," says Ron Feldman, CEO of kwiry. "Once people respond to a partner's ad, we are able to reach them when they're back at their computer and ready to interact."
With kwiry, people use their cell phone to text personal reminders to their online account at kwiry.com and their email. kwiry partners use the platform by placing unique codes in their publication/show for audiences to text to 59479 (K-W-I-R-Y). After texting it, users are asked for their email, and, upon reply, are sent a link to the partner's content. If that person is already a kwiry user, the link is saved online and shared with friends and the community at kwiry.com.
kwiry's viral system turns each text message into valuable page views from the entire community. This focus on building a community using the inherently valuable reminder service makes kwiry compelling for partners because it gives them a new channel to drive traffic to their online content.
GamePro Magazine currently uses kwiry to drive thousands of its print readers to GamePro.com. HGTV is pilot testing kwiry for the show "Don't Sweat It" to drive viewers to project information and videos at HGTV.com. Partners measure results with online reports or through Omniture's Site Catalyst, which is integrated with kwiry's analytics platform.
